Football and Tacos
It’s no secret that football Sunday is all about game day
food. On December 11thd, during the Jets vs. Chiefs game, Jimmy
Bradley and Bill McDaniel from The Red Cat are taking this theory to the next
level when they make The Red Cat’s famous Pork Carnitas Tacos with
Tomatillo-Avocado for the Commissioner’s Club at the Meadowlands. This part of New Meadowlands Stadium is a
dark, wood-paneled lounge that's a throwback to the first half of the 20th
century. It was modeled after New York's university clubs and the famous former
speakeasy, the 21 Club, says David Rockwell, the architect whose firm designed
the new stadium club. The windowless Club faithfully re-creates the old-school
atmosphere, minus the cigarette smoke. The narrow room stretches about 70
yards, filled with heavy walnut-wood tables, custom-made leather couches,
deep-brown leather-paneled walls, low-lighting (aside from the flicker of 26
flat screens), and two 10-foot long fireplaces to keep warm. Well on the 11th, those who are
already enough to spend time in there, will feel even luckier when they take a
bite of Chef Bill’s tacos. As we
mentioned, since when is football really about the game?
